Who are Osaide Foundation for Girls in STEM?

Osaide Foundation for Girls in STEM is a women-led nonprofit expanding access to STEM education for girls across Nigeria. From our founder to our administrators, we are driven by a shared commitment to breaking barriers and changing the narrative for girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

We provide STEM scholarships for girls in Nigeria, along with educational resources, mentorship, and strategic partnerships that equip girls in tech and aspiring women in engineering to thrive. By collaborating with schools, institutions, and local and international partners, we strengthen access to quality STEM learning and opportunity.

Our Mission

At Osaide for Girls in Science and Engineering Foundation, our mission is to expand access to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education for young people, particularly girls and underrepresented communities across Nigeria.

We provide educational opportunities, learning materials, and holistic support that nurture both academic excellence and strong moral values in future innovators. In partnership with public tertiary institutions, we help strengthen STEAM education by supporting the provision of essential equipment and resources.

We also work in collaboration with local and international organisations, donors, and foundations that share our commitment to advancing equitable access to quality STEAM education and empowering the next generation of leaders.

Our History

Osaide for Girls in Science and Engineering Foundation was envisioned in 2018 and officially incorporated on July 18, 2019, with a clear purpose: to provide scholarships and expand access to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education for girls — and, in exceptional cases, boys — in Edo State and across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The Foundation was established to promote equitable access and opportunity in STEAM fields, particularly for underrepresented communities. On February 14, 2020, we awarded our first scholarships to seven outstanding girls from four public secondary schools, alongside two undergraduate students and one postgraduate student from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Benin, Benin City.

Since then, every February 14, we have marked Valentine’s Day by redefining love as the gift of opportunity, empowerment, and education.
